The 5th student exchange of the third project year took place in September 2017 in the Croatian partner school with the participation of 11 teachers and 35 students from the five partner schools. During the mobility students stayed at host families therefore they got an insight into Croatian culture and way of life.
The students visited lessons with their hosts, therefore they got acquainted with the Croatian educational system and had the opportunity to compare it with their own. Prior to the meeting each country carried out a short 5-10 minute performance of a national work of art (folk tale, poem, short story). During the second day of the meeting students presented their performances to the other teams. Students also cooperated on screenplay writing activities in mixed-nationality groups to write a screenplay for the first part ( divided in three scenes). They talked about the roles, music, props and dialogue. It was very interesting and it was a good practice for them because they will have to write a screenplay for one part themselves. The story has been divided among countries: part 1 Croatia, part 2 Hungary, part 3 Italy, part 4 Spain, part 5 Turkey and part 6 Lithuania. Students also had drama workshops with a professional drama teacher from Zagreb. She worked with students on non-verbal communication, improvisation, facial expressions and using their imagination. They also had the chance to take part in two other workshops called 'Listen to create' and 'What happened next' They provided a great opportunity to practice their writing skills
Students also took part in a great variety of team games. Sport activities were organized in mixed groups to know each other better on the first day. After a presentation about Hvar and its famous people, the students and teachers had the opportunity to test their knowledge about the island of Hvar in the form of an interactive Kahoot quiz. Seek and find game : in mixed groups they had to find specific locations around the town and when they did, they got one part of a poem. In the end they had the whole poem. All the activities were planned in a way that the participants could learn about each other’s cultures and also get an insight into Croatian history and culture. They also had the opportunity to test their language skills in the form of interactive quizzes and comprehension activities. During these activities several different methods were used so the participating teachers could learn about new techniques and exchange good teaching practices.
Parallel to students’ activities, the participating teachers also had opportunities to get an insight into Croatian educational system and the life of their Croatian partner school. Teachers visited lessons, school departments and facilities. They attended an English class, where they could observe and discuss the methods used by the Croatian partners.
During the last evening, the participants took part in a cultural event, where the project partners presented some traditional songs, dances and the Croatian partners exhibited a huge variety of traditional Croatian dishes for tasting. It was really educational and contributed greatly to the cultural enrichment of the students and teachers alike.
During the project meeting many cultural programmes and field trips were organized, such as a visit to Jelsa. Here the participants visited a library where they were informed about the famous Croatian writers. The project partners also had a chance to visit the second biggest town on the island, Stari Grad, where students could gain first-hand experience on ancient history and culture. The visit was accompanied by English guided tour providing students with invaluable information on the island.
During the mobility teachers also had a meeting with a view to planning the forthcoming activities, they agreed on deadlines and responsibilities.
Events and experiences of the week has been published in the project blog, Twinspace, project website, the local newspaper and on the school website.
All in all it was an inspiring, informative, properly organized and enjoyable learning experience for both students and teachers.

Some students' summary of the meeting:
Erasmus+, R.E.A.D. in Europe, Croatia 2017
The Hungarian team arrived to the Island of Hvar late Sunday afternoon and we met with our host students. Monday we had an opening ceremony where the Mayor and the Headmaster of the school welcomed us and we heard presentations about the island. We had our first competition on Kahoot! about the presentations which were very interesting and useful during the week. At the afternoon we had sport activities in the school's gym. Tuesday morning was about drama. We had a workshop where we wrote scenerios for our play and we presented them, and then every country performed their play to the other nations. During the afternoon we explored the town of Hvar in a „Seek and find” game and then with a free walking tour. The town was beautiful and amazing. Wednesday we visited Jelsa, an other town on the island, where we heard a presentation in the public library. After Jelsa we walked around with a tourist guide in Stari Grad which is the oldest town on the island. We leard about Stari Grad and the town was beautiful. We had a workshop there, where we made handmade souvenirs . Thursday morning we went to school. We visited lessons and saw how they learn English and Croatian or Marketing. Later we had a workshop with a professional drama teacher who taught about dialogue and focus. At the afternoon we sailed to the Pakleni islands, where we had a chance to try the water. The island was very peaceful and the view was amazing. Thursday nigbht we had a cultural party where every nation performed a song or a dance which were typical to their country. We got our results from the week's competition and we had a final game. The Croatian team gave us hard Croatian sentences and we had to read tghem out loud. I haveto say Crpatian language is hard we came to first place with the Lithuanian group. Unfortunately Froday morning we had to leave. We had an amazing week in Hvar. We learned a lot, we met with new people, we spoke English and the most important of all we had fun! We will miss this week terribly!

On Tuesday we started our morning in an outside theater where we started to work on our Erasmus play, Murder in Istanbul. We worked in groups so everybody could express and share their ideas. After we finished this task, all the countries presented a little play in their native language and even though we didn't understand it, it was really enjoyable. In the afternoon we had one of my favourite part of the week: the city challenge. We had to find places only by using a map and asking locals for help. It helped the students get together better. After the game we climbed up the hill to see the breathtaking view from the mansion, the highest point of the city. It was quite tiring, but it was worth it.
On Wednesday, we went for a sight seeing in Jelsa. We visited a library and ate ice cream where the locals said it was the best. Then we went to Stari Grad, the old town where we walked through the streets and saw that it had only two stairs. Later we went to see Tvrdalj castle, where we had a workshop:we decorated fish formed magnets. In the afternoon we had a creative task, where we had to finish a story about Peter Pan. We laughed a lot on the Turkish team's work, because in their story the boy was sentenced to pay a fee because he fell asleep in public (which is forbidden in Hvar).
On Thursday we visited the Croatian students' school, where we watched some of their classes, like English and marketing. Because of the popularity of the island, pupils learn about tourism next to marketing. Later we attended a drama class held by a teacher who came from Zagreb just to teach us the importance of focus and dialogue. We played a lot of games and had improvisations. In the afternoon came one of the best programs: we sailed to the pakleni islands and on our way there, the Italian team entertained us by singing Italian songs. We had a wonderful time swimming and although the sea was cold, we enjoyed it. On the shore we listened to music, chatted and played games. It was really idyllic. In the evening we had a closing cultural party where we showed teachers and parents what we have learned on the drama classes. All the countries presented their cultures by singing a song, which we really enjoyed. After that we had a Croatian word pronunciation competition, in which the Hungarians became first with the Lithuanian team. We had a lot of fun that night!
On Friday, our last day we went to the school to be with the others until our ferry left. We played cardgames and discussed the week. Then we had an emotional goodbye and started our adventurous journey back home. I really enjoyed this week in Hvar because I fell in love with that place. I met a lot of nice people with whom I hope I will stay in touch and I collected wonderful memories.
